Speed Enforcement Cameras

Speed Enforcement Cam In spite of the fact whether you like or dislike these devices but speed enforcement cameras are emerging all over the country. Thousands of cameras are installed all over the US and millions of dollars are annually gained by penalting speeding drivers.

Special Organizations

There are special local governmental organizations whose task is reinvesting money gained from fines back into red light enforcement and speed enforcement cameras at ?hot places? of the localities they are responsible for.
With the help of these devices the government is intending to reduce the level of speeding which in its turn is to lead to reducing serious injury and death. The cameras are also used to prevent people from running ?red light? which is also one of the major reasons of road accidents. The officials state that the cameras of different types as well as driver education schemes will help prevent accidents, detect offenders.

Gatso

Gatso is the mostly spotted camera in the US. This camera was invented by rally motorist Maurice Gatsonides and now it is manufactured by a Dutch company Gatsomeer BV. This camera is equipped with radar which measures the speed of the cars when they pass it. After the car gas passed the camera driving at too high speed the device makes a photo of the vehicle from behind.
One can easily spot the place of Gatso installation by white lines painted on the road. The speed of the car is defined by the camera in the following way: the camera makes two photos of the vehicle with the interval of about 0.5 second. Then the device compares the car’s position with the white marking on the road and approximately calculates the speed of this car.
Recently according to the legislation all cameras’ rear panel should have been painted yellow to show the place of installation. However, according to new rules, the cameras are to become more invisible to catch the most resourceful speeding drivers.

Mobile Speed Cameras

A mobile speed camera represents a vehicle equipped with speed camera. This vehicle is usually parked on bridges or other places which are not available for standard speed enforcement cameras.
These can look in different ways but in most cases they are white vans with the cameras installed on the back of them or somewhere along the side. These vans must have a logo which warms you about the speed camera. However, in most cases these logos are useless as when you have approached the van close enough to spot the logo the camera has already fixed your speed.
To provide speed monitoring in places hardly available even for vans there are also a great deal of mobile speed cameras installed on motorcycles.

SPECS

It is a speed camera system worked out by the British company ?Speed Check Services Limited?.
The standard camera of this system consists of two or three sets placed along some certain rout. The camera uses special Automatic Number Plate Recognition Technology (ANPR) to work out the average speed of the vehicle when it travels between the two sets of the camera along the rout.
This new technology is getting more and more popular and soon the cameras of this type will be widespread.

Truvelo

Truvelo cameras are developed and produced by Truvelo Manufacturers Ltd., a South African Company.
Using a flash gun the camera takes photos of the vehicle either from the front or rear. In order not to blind the motorist with a sudden flash directed into the eyes, the camera’s flash gun is filtered with a special magneta filter.
These cameras offer clear photos of a motorist who has broken the speed limit. The speed of the car is calculated in the following way: in front of the camera at a measured distance apart piezo-electric road strips are set. Measuring the time between compressions caused by a car gives the speed.
